In 1979, I returned in faith and faithfulness to my Savior after having lived for several years at some distance from Him in a very prodigal condition. I am eternally grateful for His unfailing grace and faithfulness to receive me back unto Himself, and I am so very thankful that upon my return to Him, He orchestrated my path to cross with that of Sister Ann Baines, the founder of CCWM, and my spiritual mentor and mother. She modeled a kind of Christianity that was to me (and many others) quite exhilarating and very ‘contagious,’ and my wife, Ann, and I were (and still are) ‘infected’ by her ‘condition.’

We traveled in ministry with her for many years, and when some years later, we found ourselves serving in different fellowships; we never lost connection—we continued to partner with each other in those varied capacities—we would support her ministry endeavors, and she would come and minister in churches where we were pastoring.

In 2010, as we served as pastors of a church in West Virginia, we sensed the Lord leading us away from that pastorate, and in our time of seeking God’s direction, we felt God’s urge to leave the fellowship we had served in for over twenty years and unite with CCWM. I especially had such an overwhelming press in my spirit that I was certain that God had given me a mandate to help Sister Ann; in fact, the words that I heard in my spirit were, “…go help Sister Ann,” along with a few other words that I won’t mention, and so we obeyed God; I resigned my ordination from our previous fellowship in January 2011 and was ordained with CCWM. We have never regretted it.

I told Sister Ann that God had given me a mandate to ‘help her,’ but that was all I knew; that was all that mattered. God had spoken, and I wanted to obey. Before long, sometime less than year, Sister Ann asked me to serve on the Board, which I was honored to do, and we traveled with her and ministered together as often as we could, up until her health would no longer permit her to do so, and before her passing, she humbled and privileged me yet once more by installing me as vice president, allowing me the honor to serve under Bishop Jessie Blaylock. I was grateful to hold this position with CCWM until 2018, when to my great sadness, Bishop Blaylock resigned and I was then installed as president of this great organization—where I try to honor God, Bishop Blalock, and my dear spiritual mother, Sister Ann Baines, a true New Testament hero!

God has privileged me (and my wife) to serve as youth pastor in two different churches, to minister as senior pastor at six churches (two of which were church plants). I have also traveled abroad to serve Christ and His church in seven nations, a number that will continue to increase by the grace and will of God.

On a final note, I believe that CCWM plays an important and unique role in the Body of Christ, with two primary objectives: 1) to encourage missions, 2) to encourage ministers. These two ideals were the stimuli for which this organization started, and I am impassioned to keep them as the top priorities of who we are and what we do.

“Together We Can Reach the World,” so let us reach for them…together!
